It has almost been two years since Schooner came to live with us – I’m going to use the opportunity to post some of the early pictures we have of him in the next couple weeks.
First up, a video of the formerly little guy:
He still has that toy – it’s one of his favorites (if not his favorite), and he will drag it around the house in the hope someone will pick it up and play with him. It does look a lot worse for wear these days, though, as you can see from the recent picture of Schooner with it in the header/featured picture.
Gosh I can’t believe it’s 2 years!
He looks even cuter as a little kitten! 🙂

It doesn’t seem like two years to us – it’s like Choppy. I can’t believe she is turning 9 soon. It doesn’t seem like that long ago when I brought her home.

Choppy wears her age very well! 🙂
Schooner is still a kitten! 🙂

He is – though you can tell he’s got somewhat less energy than he once did as he reaches the end of kittenhood.

And you all breathe a sigh of relief! 😀 😀

Who would have thought Schooner would look so cute as a kitten.

He was adorable – though I’m not sure he is any better behaved now than he was then.

Schooner in some ways has made me more fond of cats.

He works hard at it – or rather, I work hard at making him look cute and he works at not getting dressed up. So yes, I am taking the credit for him being cute.

You should take the credit, I hope the scratches heal soon 😂

Still cute though!

He was – and sometimes still is, depending on the day and his attitude.

Oh that is amazing !!! He is having such fun !!!

He still plays with the toy the exact same way – except now he is big enough to drag it around and attempt to force you to play with him.

It’s his dead prey!

Deader now than it was then!

Love to see them play like that.

It’s adorable – now, he’s a lot more violent about the whole thing. Far more dangerous for the person at the other end of the toy if he gets a little too into it!

Sweet! Two years already? Wow. Slo-mo helps to appreciate the feline motion in action. You can see how the tail helps counter balance. I think I love the wild nature of cats as much as their physical beauty. ❤

Very graceful, even in playful attack mode…and so calculated, even at such a young age 😁

At that age, Choppy could hardly walk 10 feet without tripping over her own feet. Schooner definitely wins in the coordination part of life (both as a kitten and now).

It’s so different than the way dogs play. There isn’t much wild about the way Choppy chases after the toys you throw for her or how she tears into them.

Cats are wild animals that LET you keep them -lol. You put a dog in the wild and it will probably starve, a cat would be able to feed itself. Both species are definitely hanging with us for the free food! 😉

I’m pretty sure Choppy’s first move if finding herself in the wild would be to get back to civilization. I mean, this is the dog who escaped once in a somewhat unfamiliar place and apparently hopped in the first car that offered her a ride.

Smart dog – she does have survival skills after all. 😉

Survival/get herself taken to the pound (as happened to her that time).

Uh-oh. 😦 It isn’t fun when there is a fine involved.

We didn’t actually have to pay one – we sprang her a few hours after she got picked up on a Saturday when they weren’t actually open. I think they were just happy someone showed up to pick up a stray dog.

All’s well that ends well. In our town, 3rd offense is $250.

Ouch! This was the only time Choppy has ever been picked up, and I’m very happy about that!

Kittens are cute. Schooner is adorable. Love the video and the picture. I think his tail looks extra long on that little kitten body, but he grew into it.

Some days, it still has that extra long look about it. I think it’s the white tip – it adds unexpected length.

Oh my gosh. He was so small! I didn’t know he had a white tip on his tail!

Yup – at the humane society, his name was Tipper, presumably because of the white tip.

Aw, baby Schooner. Cats are an adjustment. I grew up with dogs and didn’t get a cat until I was in my 30’s. My first cat was mellow and lovable. Extremely lovable. If Sammy hadn’t been such a sweet blob, I probably wouldn’t have adopted more cats.

They do have their moments – and they are far easier to care for than dogs. I will give them that.

I should try to capture Schooner in slo-mo mode now that he is older. I wonder how similar it would be.
