I was not the best at remembering to take pictures of the backyard during September, but you can see that things are already starting to change toward fall a bit in these pictures. It’s even more fall-like now – I think October will involve some dramatic changes in the scenery!

Over last summer, I loved watching the Tuesday View posts of Eliza’s Garden at her website (which, in turn, is part of a regular feature at Cathy’s blog, Words and Herbs). Inspired by that, I thought it would be interesting to take a weekly picture of our backyard to see how it changes throughout the year. So, every Tuesday (or Wednesday, when I forget on Tuesday), I’ll head back there and take a picture. It turns out, I won’t quite get 52 pictures, but even with a few months to go, the changes over the course of the year are dramatic, as you can see from the video below!

Thanks! It is drying up right now – though we got some rain last night and more is in the forecast, so I think we will be back to having the pond shortly!

How Awesome is that? 🙂
Still fairly green for September, but the biggest jump was the sudden flood of green in May, after all that snow and water!

It’s actually pretty dry for us – we usually have to mow all summer and into the fall here (they mowed yesterday). The pond dried up almost entirely over the last week, which you’ll see in the next set of pics, but thanks to some rain yesterday and more coming up, it will be back soon.

More lovely now than when the snow starts falling again – though I know you’ll enjoy those pictures.

What a difference a week makes. Plenty of spots for Bacon Trees 🥓🥓 once they are developed 😹

Many, many spots. Though I might put it in the front yard – easier access!

I am looking forward to doing it again next year and seeing if this year was an anomaly, or if the changes are so dramatic every year.

They really are. With all our walking, I’ve really started to notice the subtle changes that signal those changes, from sights to smells.

Thank you for the compliment! I have many more plans to improve the yard, though I think the only big pond project next year is to continue our efforts to keep it from going green.
