Today, we have our walks from last week – last Wednesday, we took an eight mile hike in Rocky Mountain National Park to an old mining city called Lulu City. This made last Wednesday both the longest walk since we started the Dog Walk Challenge, as well as the day with the most overall miles. Now, we’ll just have to beat that!

Choppy wasn’t actually with us – we flew out, so she hung out with my parents while we were away. Next time, hopefully she’ll come with us and we can all met up!
(Also, we had a great time – it was Paul’s first time in Colorado, so it made a good impression!)

8 miles is not to be sniffed at by any hound and certainly not in that terrain. Good going Choppy and co!

Thanks! (Though Choppy wasn’t on the walk – she was back home with my parents, because we flew out.)

Thanks for the beautiful views of your vacation. P.S. Your book just came from Amazon yesterday. Loved it. Choppy made the book. When I’m tired or depressed, I’ll just peruse the great pictures of a very happy dog.

Thank you! I don’t have many good shots – I just use my phone (Paul has a fancy camera, so he probably has better ones).

I just use my phone too. I want to get a new camera with my exercise reward money, just haven’t looked into what to get yet.

Thanks! The hikes up there were great – we ended up on some very different ones, which meant lots of different scenery (and animals – coming up this weekend in posts).

I hope you really didn’t take your dog in Rocky Mountain National Park since dogs are not allowed on the trails. Hiking with dogs is so much fun and I love to take my pups hiking but it has to be in National Forests in this area. There are steep fines so be forewarned.

Choppy wasn’t actually on the trip with us – she was at home with my parents (it still gets the Dog Walk Challenge tag, though, even when Choppy isn’t there).
Interestingly enough, Rocky Mountain actually has a trail where dogs are allowed – it’s an old sled dog trail, so having dogs on it keeps with the history of it. Otherwise, the east coast National Parks are great for having dogs – they allow them on almost all the trails. Choppy and I had a great time at Shenandoah and Acadia exploring everything!
