Last week, the temperatures were into the 90s (32+ for those of you who have no idea what Fahrenheit is all about). Which means our air conditioning decided to die a quick and (for those of us now stuck in a house without air conditioning) painful death. No worries, though, they’re coming to fix it this week. And by “fix it,” I mean they’re putting in a whole new air conditioning unit. Which is another lesson in pain (for the pocketbook).

Once you’ve lived with AC, you don’t want to be without, that’s for sure. During our first heat wave, I discovered the car’s AC was gone – icky-sticky. I can’t be without it! 🙂

Paul and I started our honeymoon in my dad’s truck with the camper on it, only to discover the first day the AC wasn’t working. Thankfully, we got one of those cans you can use to add coolant to the AC and it did the trick. I don’t think either of us wanted to drive over a thousand miles without it working!

It would make for a rather strained honeymoon, I’d think!

Probably not the way you want to start out the marriage!

It seems like *everyone’s* air conditioning is going out lately. A friend’s took a dive last week, and she can’t get service until next Monday. I had mine go out last summer, so we had fans set up all over the place. It’s amazing how the temperatures fluctuate so quickly. Hoping your air gets fixed soon!

The HVAC guys said that two weeks ago, they had 62 people in our small area call about a lack of AC. In the two days before they came to our house last week, they’d had 28 more. So apparently it’s a widespread problem!

Wow! I bet the HVAC crew gets a lot of overtime in the summer months. I need to get the air fixed in my car. It went out two years ago, and I tell myself every spring that I’ll take it in, before the weather heats up.
For some reason, it doesn’t seem to be a pressing matter until summer comes. :-\

At least you can roll down the windows with the car – unless those are broken, too!

OMW, that is one thing that cannot freak out! Glad it will be sorted soon….Great walks you guys have had, well done:-)

Thankfully, it has cooled down to temperatures that are far more normal for our part of the country – a couple fans and open windows are enough to keep it cool right now.

It’ll be nice when the ‘ac fix-it’ is done. Last year was first year with ac in this house. Just used to have fans…..don’t know how we ‘did it.’ Just sweat. Keeping carbon foorprint low is very important, but once you get used to cooler temps & less humidity it sure is nice! My sister lives in south west Holland…will be 33C tomorrow, no ac, no fans & no ceiling fans, either.

Oh, that would be uncomfortable!
It has cooled down a lot the last couple days – we had storms blow through. It’s much more normal temperature-wise and humidity-wise now around here, so fans and open windows are great.

I like the pic of Choppy in the middle of the field, not concerned with AC issues. There are times when being a doggo must be the best!

I should have taken a picture of her when she got home – sprawled out on the coolest floor she could find (I think she even slept in the bathroom one night).

If it’s any consolation, upper 90’s here too (but it’s a ‘dry’ heat so I probably shouldn’t whine). I’m already over summer and it doesn’t official arrive until tomorrow. *Sigh*

I think there are a lot of people who feel the same.

You’re doing great. Love the quote. Sorry about your AC. I had to do the same thing a couple of years ago. Definitely a pain in the pocketbook.

Definitely! On the plus side, it might be worth it to have a nice, cool house again!

We don’t even have air con 😕

You guys are probably just made of heartier stuff than us – it gets hot here, and we all want it cold. It’s like our soda and beer – we want it cold, cold, cold!

We took the plunge and bought a new AC/Furnace 2 years ago. I do have lower electric bills now at least… it will still take 10 years to recover my investment… sigh.

The old one (being replaced as I type this!) was original to the house – which makes it 30 years old. We nursed it through this last year, only running it when absolutely necessary. I’m pretty sure that the original owners of the house wouldn’t have imagined it would last this long!
And thankfully, our boiler (or whatever is used for radiant heat) is pretty new, so hopefully we’ll be spared that expense for a while!
