Last Tuesday (Day 382), Choppy and I took our normal morning walk, expecting nothing out of the ordinary (though on the lookout for coyotes after last week’s excitement). Instead of the ordinary, we got a great surprise. As you’ve seen from our pictures, we mostly walk on the edge of the country, with lots of fields, ponds, and streams. Our walking paths are bike paths and roads, the latter of which I really don’t enjoy walking on (sidewalks are a highly underrated improvement to any neighborhood). Last Tuesday, we got a great surprise: the county (which owns much of the land we walk through/around) mowed a path through one of the grassy fields for walking! Choppy and I immediately investigated and discovered the path is the same length as our normal walk, but it allows us to skip walking on the road for several hundred feet.
On Friday, the county mowed another new path near where we walk – this one makes a wide circle, traversing not just the grassy prairie, but meandering through a bit of woods and near a pond. Our Saturday (Day 386) exploration of this new path may well provide the “Where’s Choppy” post for this week.
All this is the long way to say, we have lots of new places to walk as of last week. The blog pictures will benefit greatly from this development!
Also, on a blogging note, I am very behind on blog comments. I got a chance to answer most of your comments from the weekend yesterday, but I’ve still got some backlog from last week, yesterday, and everything on Facebook and Twitter has been ignored completely for almost a week. I’m working on getting caught up, but until then, I’m not purposely ignoring you, I’m unhappily ignoring everyone.

I’m thrilled! We’ve only been on the one path once, but I’m sure it won’t be the last time!

New expedition places are so fun! Be careful of all the wild ( hiding) animals. It’s fun to read all your comments…I try and read what everyone else writes, and yours, so I have a lot of fun…but it’s so much work for you…but you must enjoy it!

It does take a bit of time – that’s why I get so far behind when I take a few days off from the blog world!

Great totals for the week and such a nice surprise to have new paths to walk. Maybe Choppy is becoming a celebrity in the county and they wanted to help out.

Oh, she is a celebrity with them. Last summer, I walked several days without her because she was at the kennel thanks to our travel schedule, and I got stopped by some of the workers who were concerned that something had happened to her!
