The second week of Year 2 of the Dog Walk Challenge is finished!
Last Wednesday, we had a little excitement on our morning walk. Choppy and I were on the longer of our two normal walks, just ambling along as we normally do. All of a sudden, a very large coyote came out of the bushes, crossing about 10 feet in front of us. I looked at Choppy, and Choppy looked at me. The look on her face said, “Did you just see that?”
Thankfully, the coyote wanted nothing to do with us, and Choppy seemed to want nothing to do with the coyote. We haven’t seen him again, though I have been giving the bushes out of which he emerged a wide berth as we pass by.

Wild animals usually don’t bother people. I was in our kitchen this morning (8:45a)… a fox “trotted” through the back yard, hesitated a few times, went to the neighbor’s. One of my kitties came in with his tail all fluffed out & a ridge of hair on his back 😬My son saw the fox as well. Kitty went back out to smell where the fox had been. A neighbor, a few houses down, saw a fox about 2 weeks ago.

My Maine Coon cat actually chased a fox out of our yard once. He was fearless! But he knew when to climb a tree. I swear he did coyote drills, racing to a tree to climb halfway and then jump back down. We used to call it, “1-2-3-Coyote!”

That’s so true – it’s Choppy who is usually bothering the wild animals, chasing them out of the yard or around the fields on our walks. The animals tend to give us a wide berth.

No doubt – even if she hasn’t seen any in this particular location.

Way to keep up with the miles and special kudos for avoiding the furry neighbors. 😉

Glad the coyote was just passing by and not interested in you guys at all. Also glad that Choppy was smart about not giving chase. Great week of walking. You’re doing great! Did I miss what you did to celebrate completing your first year of walking?
