The weekend has been absolutely gorgeous here – which means lots and lots of yard work this time of year! Oh well – it will all be worthwhile come summer, when I can just sit around enjoying the fruits of my labor. Right? That’s how it works?

Length: 2.1 Miles

Have you ever been for a swim, Choppy? Your tail would make a great rudder. Sun is shining!

She went for her version of a swim this weekend, actually – she can swim, but she doesn’t like to. She much prefers to wade in and lie down in the shallows. Oddly enough, despite not liking to swim, she’ll put her whole head under the water.

When we went to leash up our doggies today we discovered one of them was missing his collar. Searched everywhere, never found it.

Oh, a mystery. Have you found it yet? Any leads?

Oh no, Choppy! That water is still freezing cold! Plus, Sarah may quit her long walks with you dear girl.

The freezing water doesn’t seem to have stopped her. Apparently, there’s some sort of dog in her background who doesn’t mind the cold!

My brother’s big dogs have been golden retrievers and also included two Newfoundlands over the years. They didn’t mind cold water in Lake Erie before Memorial Day and after Fall started! Brr-r! 🙂 Choppy makes me proud of her hardy spirit but don’t wish a wet dog upon your early morning walks! xo

So long as I can avoid the dog shakes, I’m OK with her in the water, so long as she can stand its freezing temperatures!

Choppy does look like she is enjoying this walk more than most. It’s looks like a beautiful day, so I don’t blame her. Curious to know. Was that last picture taken past the “do not go beyond this point” sign on the trail? 😉

It wasn’t taken past the closed trail sign, though it looks like it could be! This is actually a nature park near our house. Both it and the closed trail are along the same bike path we walk when we have a chance to take a longer walk than our normal, 1.3 mile one. Choppy is allowed at the nature park, though – even when the other trail is open, it’s closed to dogs.

Looks absolutely beautiful Sarah, what a stunning day. Does Choppy swim? Does she like the water?

She doesn’t like to swim, but she can swim. She does like the water, though – she wades in up to her neck and lies down in the shallows. She knows she isn’t supposed to go in the pond, but there have been a few times when the temptation is too great. One of those times was this last weekend!

May I suggest she informs Schooner of all the “BACON” floating way out in the water and carefully watch as he “takes the bait” and accepts the challenge. Although some may call this lying, others (in the legal field) have defined this as “constructive creative solution solving!” 🙂

As a lawyer, I fully approve of this definition.

You mean it doesn’t work that way? Hmm, it’s all starting to make sense now. 😉

I’m beginning to see this myself. It’s not how I think it should work at all.
