I’m a little late this month with the Backyard View post for March, but better late than never! Also, you may notice that we’re missing one date – it turns out, going on vacation is not good when it comes to taking a picture of one’s own backyard.
I’m pretty sure this is the last month you’ll see ice on the pond until this fall or even next year. I’m guessing things will green up very quickly back there in April, so expect a fun one next month. If we’re really lucky, we’ll get more sunny days for these, too.

Over last summer, I loved watching the Tuesday View posts of Eliza’s Garden at her website (which, in turn, is part of a regular feature at Cathy’s blog, Words and Herbs). Inspired by that, I thought it would be interesting to take a weekly picture of our backyard to see how it changes throughout the year. So, every Tuesday, I’ll head back there and take a picture. Then, at the end of the year (if I manage to keep this up), I’ll have 52 pictures to combine into a slideshow of how the yard changes throughout the year!

Thank you! We’re starting to get some really nice days again, and the still water and the reflection add a lot. We took a very similar picture this week (with a couple geese in the background for good measure).

Great view to take photos of! The photos are beautiful! Hint: Paint some “footprints” on the deck, so you can stand at exactly the same spot every time!

After the first couple, I just use a tree to pinpoint where to stand – I don’t mind being a little off (and I don’t want to have permanent footprints on the deck!).

Wow, I love this – the river really does command a lot of the landscape when it floods. You are a good candidate for witch alder, witch hazel and winterberry. (all ‘W’s!) Thanks for the link! 🙂

Oh, thank you! I will put them on the list of things to look for, for back there. As you can see, anything beyond a certain point has to be able to withstand a lot of flooding for a long time!

We’re supposed to be in the 70s (low 20s) this weekend – here’s hoping that heads your way next!

This is gorgeous, stunning and the reflection is mesmerizing! Wow, Sarah!! This was one of my favorite nature photos!
Also, I enjoy the pets in costumes and relaxing on other posts, too. 🙂

Thank you! I’ve really enjoyed taking these backyard pictures. I am excited to see them when I have more change back there. Spring seems to be arriving quickly, so that change should be starting any time now.

If I had that view in my backyard, I’d never leave the house! 😀

Well, there are times in the summer when you wouldn’t want to leave the house – you might get eaten alive by mosquitoes!

Oh dear! Need a body mosquito net! 🙂

Most definitely! At least they don’t bother me too much. Poor Paul gets eaten alive.

Oh yes – definitely pays to be with someone the mossies prefer! 🙂

That it does – Paul is sadly the one who gets the brunt of it.

Losing the snow cover, I see. These are great. Thanks for sharing.

Yup – no snow here, except where the giant parking lot piles once were.
