Happy Mardi Gras! Neither of these two looks like they are having a good time. Perhaps they are just tired from catching all the beads in the bags behind them (because yes, those bags are full of beads caught at Mardi Gras this year).

Schooner likes his decorations! 🤣 I’m probably very misinformed …..but someone told me ‘to acquire’ bead necklaces, women had to lift their shirts! 🙃😮😹 Who would say that & who would do that? 🤐😬😮😹

Not at all like that, unless you’re in the French Quarter (which I avoid like the plague, especially at Mardi Gras). Most of Mardi Gras is family-friendly – as in, my sister had her 18 month old with her.

I just googled that…I’m not so misinformed 😮😬🤐

You can see the other comment – that’s a VERY small portion of Mardi Gras, entirely for tourists. We are nowhere near there (and so thankful not to be).

No worries about too much craziness around here!

It’s not often Choppy has that face on camera. That face of, “Why does Sarah do this to me and the cat. I just want bacon, give me bacon…”

She really doesn’t – this morning, she was all peppy again. I guess the weekend took a lot out of her!

I know! They really need to realize they are wearing some fun things!

Haha choppy non too pleased but Schooner looks grand in his beads.

He was pretty chill about wearing them. I think he’s pretty much used to having something around his neck. Next, we work on clothing on the rest of him!

Haha good luck with that!

Glad there weren’t accidents at your Mardi Gras. Looking good, both, if a little perplexed that the rewards aren’t edible!

Oddly enough, someone got shot (in a very accidental shooting) just a few blocks from us – but we knew nothing about it.

Hahaha how cute . Most of my beads are from Key West, on a Fat Tuesday , one year. Really alllll those bags have beads in them 😳

Yup! We parade with all the local families – it’s pretty much all the beads you can catch (especially for the hundreds of kids along the route). Definitely not the same Mardi Gras the tourists attend and you see on TV! I have a video that I should post for everyone to see.

They’re definitely not going for it!

No, they aren’t! Maybe Choppy was upset we didn’t take her with us this year, as she has been before!

Oh my! She’s been???

Yup! We went a few years ago. I know where it’s calm (not at all like on TV), so things were not too crazy. A little crazy? Yes. But she could handle it, even if she didn’t really love it.

I bet she was the queen of the day!! How fun!

What did the two have to show to get the beads??!!

Ha! Nothing! Where we parade it’s nothing like what you see on the TV. You get so many beads, you have no idea what you’ll do with all of them!

I think they may be hung over, or are mad that they didn’t get to actually go to New Orleans with you to collect said beads.

Choppy has been before – she was OK with with it, but definitely not her favorite place to visit (I think she was worried about getting hit in the head by beads).

They do seem less than enthused with this holiday. It is an exhausting one!

That it is! But at least the food is excellent!

Choppy looks all partied out! And way to go with Schooner’s ‘outfits’. Necklaces seem to work well. 🙂

He seems perfectly willing to sit for them. I think I need to start making some outfits for him taking advantage of this.

Choppy looks tired, like she is done with the day…Schooner looks chilled, but in his head is thinking….hey, I am boy! Boys don’t wear beads!!!!

They do at Mardi Gras! Paul wandered around with a ton on most nights. You just get in the spirit!
