Hi Everyone! We have been in New Orleans for Mardi Gras for a few days, hence the lack of comment responses and Dog Walk Challenge updates. But no worries – the walks continued, with the added bonus of being in a warm location for them.
This week should be fun and exciting – we have our normal posts, plus (if I can get my act together today and tomorrow), a big announcement! I highly recommend it – so long as you get off the tourist-beaten path! From what I hear, the tourist-y areas are more than a bit crazy during the parades (meanwhile, we had my sister’s 18 month old there, and he wasn’t even the youngest kid parading within ten feet of us).

Yup! I just have to do a small thing, hopefully tonight, and it should be ready to go – it has been in the works for a lot longer than it should have been. I blame all those things like “having a job” and, well, “having a job.”

It’s a good one! I have been working on it for a while, which will probably be obvious. Now, I just need to make the time to get it all finished. Perhaps announcing it here will help me find that time!

We’ve decided to pop down to N’orlan’s for our Christmas trip this year! Yeah! I’m a bit old for Marti Gras, and Chris has never been there. We’re really looking forward to it.
Any suggestions of things to see? It’s been about 25 years since I’ve been there 😄

Oh, you’ll have a great time! When it gets closer, remind me and I will send you some great bars to visit – not touristy and with great food and music – and some restaurants. As for things to see, I usually see the insides of those bars. I’ll think on other “can’t miss” sights, though admittedly I spend much of my time in NOLA at parades during Mardi Gras or in bars.
(Also, you’re never too old for Mardi Gras! You just have to stay away from the Quarter, where it’s college kid and tourist central. The rest of the routes for the parades are like giant tailgate parties, with families and people of every age.)

You’re right. There’s more than the Quarter! I don’t think I went back to my hotel room for four days back then 😥 I knew how to party. I just have to separate that part from my mind 😉

Oh, there is definitely a time when the Quarter is awesome – thankfully, I’m past that (though there are some places I do go down there to enjoy – Bourbon Street just doesn’t happen to be that place any more!).
