First, housekeeping: I spent much of the weekend having an early Christmas with family, so I didn’t get to comments or anyone’s blogs over the weekend. I’ll be catching up on those over the next few days as I get time to do so.
Second, weather (because it’s all I talk about). It turned bitterly cold here. So cold that Choppy can only be outside for a few minutes without her paws getting too cold. As she won’t wear booties on her walks, this means walking outside is out of the question until it warms back up to a more reasonable temperature (read: something without a minus sign in front of it). As a result, we’ve temporarily moved our daily walk indoors. Choppy follows me around with a toy and we get our walk in. Ideal? No. But far better than going out in the cold!

Poor Choppy. The pooches at the Ranch have ‘cabin fever’ too. It’s gonna be a long Winter at this rate, I think. 😦

A very long one! At least this morning it was far nicer (and by ‘nicer,’ I mean it was 20 degrees and there were winds of 10-15 mph. But it was an improvement over the frigid cold!).

I guess the cold is trying to spoil the show but you guys are to dedicated, no giving up.
Well done.

Not giving up yet! Even when we have to walk circles in the house, we’re still going!

A n d …..Choppy looks like she needs another toybox & maybe a treadmill.

She definitely needs another one. And we have a treadmill coming any day now, so we don’t have to walk circles around the house on the coldest days. I am looking forward to it a lot!

I’m shocked I haven’t gotten any ‘inside bombs” because of the boys not wanting to go outside.

Choppy is good so far – and now that the weather is back to something reasonable for this time of the year, I think we’re good. At least until January. (Also? Famous last words right there.)

You walked more than a mile around your house? That’s impressive dedication!

Impressive dedication that will end with one being very dizzy if you don’t occasionally turn and go the other way! I am going to be very grateful when the Christmas present treadmill arrives for those cold January and February days!

Will you train Choppy on it, too? I saw a YT video on how to train your dog on one. The key is to start VERY slowly. 🙂

I was thinking I should – I’m sure she’d just hop on it with me, but I doubt she would do it otherwise (and I suspect she would hop off of it very quickly in either case).

Hope you had a very Merry weekend! and yikes! 7below!! I would just stay in and walk her back and forth in front of the window? hahaha! XO!

When it gets really cold, we just walk circles around the house – thankfully, we have a floor plan that allows it! But we did get a treadmill for Christmas (yet to be delivered), so that will help on those really cold days. Today it warmed up (as will be posted tomorrow), so we were back outside and happy to be there!

A very sensible thing to do and great to keep up the walks. 🙂
As to Choppy’s toy box – I’m thinking she could open up a shop with all those goodies! 🙂

The last thing I want is to have Choppy get hurt by the cold because of what I wanted to do (and I am not about to complain about NOT having to put on all the winter clothing). We do have a treadmill coming soon that will make the walks around the house less dizzy – we just walk in a big circle, so it eventually catches up to you!

Ah – I was going to suggest a treadmill if you had the space 🙂 I’ve seen Cesar Millan put dogs on there too – so Choppy would have no excuse not to get her daily walks. 🙂

I’ve seen that, too! I think I will try to train her to walk on it, even if it’s just for a few days a year.
