We have a video today. This is something Choppy has done since she was a puppy, but I have never gotten more than a second or two of it on camera. When she scratches the back of her leg, she licks her lips (for lack of a better term for what she does). She got on camera yesterday while we were gone, and demonstrated it.

We’re in the throes of a warm spell at the moment (6 degrees C). With no wind, I actually walked the dog without the need of a coat!
Obviously Choppy gets a lot of pleasure from having a scratch! Maggie just grins inanely!!

Oh, I remember the days of walking without a coat…they were like three weeks ago. We seem to have gone from fall to the dead of winter nearly overnight!

It’s dry skin – she is really sensitive to things on her skin, and this time of year she gets super itchy. It has happened since she was a puppy.

It gives her an excuse to try and get petted – she’s pretty much looking for a good scratch any time someone wants to give her one these days.

Does she scratch a lot? Maybe add fish oil to her diet – it soothes dry skin (she’ll like it better than an oatmeal bath 😉 )

Oreo scratches his ears and moans. We thought he was in pain, but nope. It’s just something he does. Maybe it’s the same for Choppy?
