I have been up at a conference in Door County – that’s the little peninsula that juts out from the rest of Wisconsin into Lake Michigan. It’s beautiful here, and I took a couple hikes yesterday to enjoy it.
Walk One:
Date: July 15, 2016
Location: Peninsula State Park, Wisconsin
Length: 2.6 Miles
Who: Sarah
Walk Two:
Date: July 15, 2016
Location: Peninsula State Park, Wisconsin
Length: 2.9 Miles
Who: Sarah
There were a bunch of the trees overgrowing the signs – and a couple I suspected had completely covered the sign (but, not being able to see the sign, I was unsure). I expected the park to be far more crowded than it was. Even on the weekend, it was quite pleasant and uncrowded.
Unfortunately, with the heat this weekend, we’re lucky that we have gotten our mile in. Choppy comes home and basically collapses on the cool floor (though she still has enough energy to get up and get her treat as soon as I get to the treat closet/pantry).
The Civilian Conservation Corps – it was a program during the Depression where jobless men worked in places like National Parks to improve them. There are a huge number of parks here in the U.S. that benefited from their efforts.
Oh cool, I thought it might be something like that 🙂 a great idea. I suspect Australia had something similar but I don’t know what the program was called, will have to research!
What a beautiful walk! Love the view. The tree overgrowing the sign is priceless.

The tennis court in the middle of no where is interesting, to say the least. Love these pictures.

It was definitely not what I expected to run across in the woods!

Beautiful walks in nature – the birdsong must have been a nice accompaniment. 🙂 Too bad Choppy missed it.

She really would have loved it – next year I am going to plan ahead so we can take her.

You must have missed your companions! The stairs look really nice there in the woods. Perfect! Talented person who made those.

I think they were made during the Depression by the CCC – so many wonderful places I have been come courtesy of them.

Let me know if you find out what it was – it will be a fun piece of knowledge to tell people when I am there again!
