Happy Mardi Gras! Eat some King Cake, have some drinks, and don’t do anything too bad to get those cheap plastic beads!
We’re back from vacation, and I’ll start to get caught back up hopefully later today on comments and your blogs (though if those drinks start flowing early, well, I make no guarantees). There will be some Bad Jokes early this afternoon and I think the regular schedule of posts will resume from there forward – and if I really get my act together (despite the Mardi Gras drinking), there is a new regular post that will be starting tomorrow, in anticipation of a project I hope to launch in the next couple months.
And happy Marti Gras to you! Choppy is adorable! Cheers!

Thank you! It is one of my favorite holidays (mostly because it gives me a chance to head to New Orleans, drink and tailgate on a street and catch free things thrown at me by complete strangers).

I love visiting New Orleans but have never desired to be there for Mardi Gras. Have fun and stay safe!

I would normally feel the same way, except one of my best friends from college grew up there and showed us how to Mardi Gras like locals. I’ve loved Mardi Gras ever since – it is nothing like what you see on TV (think: kids all over, not too crowded, and definitely nothing that qualifies as NSFW!).

I believe Choppy could ride one of those floats.

Well, she has been to Mardi Gras and seen them go by. I think she mostly enjoyed the people walking by who attempted to feed her food, though!

Lot of good eating in New Orleans. She obviously has great taste.

Obviously. We’re planning a(nother) Mardi Gras trip for next year, but hoping to get in a long weekend before then just to enjoy the food and drinks.

Well, so far the cold is unpleasant, but I’m unpacked and back at work. That has to count for something.

Australia is a big wide open country with plenty of room and warmth for you and Choppy to enjoy š

Oh, that’s not in doubt – I have many cousins and other family members there. I just hope we get back sooner, rather than later!

On a related note, we showed some Australians around Key West this weekend (and by “showed around” I mean we took them to a bar). It only made me want to return more!

I hope they could keep up with you in your natural habitat š

Us Americans tend to think of that as the other way around – we hope to keep up with you Australians!

Haha, I suppose many Australians are known for their capacity to keep grog down!

I’m guessing she’d hoard all the beads for herself. She probably thinks they look better on her than anyone else.

Happy Mardi Gras! I am enjoying it greatly, as I have chosen to give up something I love immensely for Lent (well, mostly give up. I do have to draw a line somewhere. It’s not meant to be torture, just difficult).

She does – though usually I don’t think she knows she is hiding. I think as long as she can see me/the house, she thinks she’s perfectly OK with being wherever she is (particularly when “wherever she is” is checking out the yards of the neighbors).

Faith is a great looking dog – and from the posts, looks like she is a great dog in general. Thanks for the search tip!
