Last week, Choppy and I had an expected/unexpected trip to Minnesota. Expected, because I knew it was a trip I would be taking sometime in August, and unexpected because I didn’t know its exact timing. Confused?

You shouldn’t be – my sister had a baby (another nephew!), so I knew I would be headed there at some point, but the timing was up to the baby. He decided to show up ten days early, which means Choppy and I found ourselves headed up to Minnesota very early on a Tuesday morning.

On the plus side, the early morning meant we got to see some beautiful scenery and fog along the road.

A still-early (but not quite as early) stop at a rest area for a little walk.

This was about two seconds before Choppy started barking at a dog walking around at a gas station.

Obviously, this was not exactly a tourist trip. We didn’t get to do a lot of non-baby related things, but the hospital had a lot of pretty walking paths around it, so we did get to enjoy some beautiful Minnesota scenery.

Part of this may have been because she just got to run around without supervision.

Nothing like a tired dog after a walk!

Sadly, we didn’t get to spend too much time enjoying the beautiful state of Minnesota, but I am sure we’ll get a return trip soon – which will likely involve far more tourism-related things!
